THE BOOKNERDS' VERDICT:

The pacing of the stories is not slow at all, which is a cherry on top as it gives a good direction to the future of short story writing.

NERD RATING: 5/5

Book Summary:“Frailty, thy name is woman,” said Hamlet and indeed, women, stereotyped as being simple, kind and compassionate, lead multi-layered lives. This collection of short stories draws upon the vulnerabilities of women as well as their strengths and celebrates women’s various shades of grey. The stories, which often end with a twist, will resonate with people of all genders.

Book Review: There are many strings attached to Vandana's bow. From a retired IAS Officer to an accepted writer, she seems to have had a good share of experiences in life. Thus, helping her to bring a variety of books one after the other. In her latest book 'One Rotten Apple', diversity of subjects hints at the fact that her experience as an IAS Officer has had certainly gone into the making of this book. It is a collection of around 28 stories that are very different from one another, but equally exciting. Subjects of all her stories are customary, but not their narration. It is her interestingly quick fashion of storytelling that excites the readers. While her nonconflicting style of writing makes it all the more easy to keep the readers' attention secured. Moreover, the voice of all her stories is in harmony with the readers' expectations. The writer, thus, can be seen balancing effortlessly between spouting her own thoughts and catering what the readers wish to read. Also, the pacing of the stories is not slow at all, which is a cherry on top as it gives a good direction to the future of short story writing.
